CONTINUANCES
As a matter of policy, criminal cases will be continued only upon a showing of providential cause. That is done by submitting a special form, REQUEST TO RESCHEDULE, through opposing counsel and then to the court hearing the case.
Requests for continuances flow as described above in order to provide the Court with all views regarding the proposed continuance from both sides of the case. Armed with that information, the Court either does or does not grant the continuance. Once the decision is made by the Court, as indicated on the form, the Clerk will notify all parties of the Courts ruling. If the continuance is granted, the Clerk will assign a new court date and issue appropriate notices to all parties.
