Court Activities Criminal Division

Entry of Appearance
Although the State Court receives all of its cases from other Chatham County jurisdictions, an attorney's entry of appearance in the other jurisdiction does not automatically follow. For that reason, a new formal entry of appearance is also required in State Court for each case in which the defendant is represented. Once the case is filed in State Court, any one of the following actions will fulfill the entry of appearance requirement.

1. Notice of appointment by the Court Administrator.
2. Counsel’s filing of PRE-ARRAIGNMENT request.
3. Counsel’s filing of an ENTRY OF APPEARANCE.

To determine if a case has been filed, please check the docket (by name). If the case is shown, the Clerk can accept an entry of appearance form and provide the attorney with notice of all related court activities throughout the life of the case.
